I had the absolute pleasure of working with Charlotte on a few occasions over the last year on a number of different personal styling sessions. When we first started working together, Charlotte was a relatively new mum, and had fallen out of love with her current wardrobe, finding it hard to feel like herself while breastfeeding and needing to be available for her gorgeous baby girl. Speaking with her, it was clear that her biggest challenge was putting outfits together quickly around a busy lifestyle, and dressing for her height. With a lovely tall figure, Charlotte falls into the tall category when it comes to clothing items, which can be extremely hard for some women, especially with high street brands still struggling to be inclusive when it comes to petite, tall, curvy, and plus size pieces.
Working together, we identified that Charlotte's priorities were breastfeeding friendly, everyday outfits, along with tall sizing that accommodate leg, arm and torso proportions.
Charlotte was unsure of which colours suited her the most, and what her main style personality is, and she wanted some outfits put together that include all of the requirements above, which are easy to wear and style.
After going through Charlotte’s requirements, we decided that the best course of action was to complete a colour analysis, so that the clothes she was wearing harmonise with her natural colouring, then complete a style personality assessment, so that the clothes Charlotte was buying and wearing were aligned and cohesive. And lastly, we chose to create an outfit guide incorporating the results of the other styling services. The outfit guide is designed to make getting dressed and putting outfits together easier, and offer instant outfit inspiration, which in this case was designed to help Charlotte dress confidently and quickly, while feeling like her personality and unique style is represented.
The results of the colour analysis helped Charlotte to learn which colours work best for her, bringing out the best tones from her skin, hair and eyes. These colours make her natural features pop and look vibrant and alive, as opposed to dull, washed out, or muted. Instantly, Charlotte looked bright, vibrant, and glowing when she incorporated these colours into her wardrobe.
After going through the style personality assessment, I advised Charlotte that her predominant style personality is classic; a great style personality that typically leans into more simple and timeless pieces, but as you can see from Charlotte’s outfit guide, it doesn’t mean being boring or monochrome when it comes to putting outfits together. I created a style guide for Charlotte, which included some specific outfits for upcoming events, including a Christmas party look, a team Christmas dinner pub look, and when we worked together for the second time, we focused on outfits for pub gardens, BBQs, and summer days out. This gave her a good number of everyday outfits that can be styled in many different ways and worn for different occasions. Each outfit guide comes with links to the items which can be purchased easily online, and I also include a couple of different ways to style them, making sure there are options to repeat the outfits for different occasions, and dress them both up and down. I also incorporate some pieces that my clients already have too, in order to keep it cost effective, and utilise pieces clients already love and enjoy wearing. Charlotte went ahead and purchased a number of items from the outfit guide, and looked absolutely amazing in all of the looks!
My favourite part of working with Charlotte was being able to get to know her wants and needs, and seeing how dressing for her colour, style and shape made her look on the outside, and the confidence which came from within! All by simply changing a few items in her wardrobe. I loved styling Charlotte and can’t wait to work together again in the future!
